Amir Abtahi, MD
Dr. Amir Abtahi joined spine Colorado in August 2016 and is a board eligible spine surgeon.
Dr. Abtahi has a special interest in minimally invasive spine surgery, motion preservation surgery, and spinal deformity surgery. He treats all spinal conditions including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar degenerative diseases, scoliosis, spine trauma, as well as tumors and infections of the spine. Dr. Abtahi completed his undergraduate education at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and earned his medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Utah Medical Center and his fellowship in Spine Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Abtahi is active in clinical research. He has published his research in numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented his research at several national and international spine meetings. He has broad clinical research interests in all areas of spine surgery with a particular interest in patient satisfaction and patient-reported outcome assessment.
Dr. Abtahi is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the North American Spine Society.
Dr. Abtahi is an active outdoorsman and enjoys skiing, canyoneering, mountaineering, fly-fishing, and golf. He and his wife have two children.
